Delayed key fob unlock

I went out of town with the in-laws for almost 10 days. I left our 2023 Integra parked at their garage, and took a different vehicle. When I got back, key fob didn't work to unlock my car. I tried it a few times, no effect. I waited for maybe 10 minutes and that's when the doors unlocked. So far, there's no issue but I'm concerned that it would act up again when I drive it out of town. Any idea what's the problem?

Dang, that's sketchy for sure! Sounds like the key fob battery's probably dead or super low. I mean that's already expected when left unused for a while. Try swapping the battery out first, that usually fixes it. If it keeps acting up, could be a receiver issue, but start simple. Good luck, & I hope it's nothing major!

it's a sleep mode glitch. it means that cars go into a deep sleep to save battery when parked for days. Sometimes, the key fob system takes a moment to fully wake up and communicate, leading to a delay like you experienced

Well its happened only once and the doors eventually unlocked so I wouldn't panic yet, but definitely swap the key fob battery soon to avoid any future lockouts.

Good thinking. It definitely sounds like the battery for your fob is on its last legs. If you change it out now, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble down the road.

So was this one time only or it happens all the time? It it was just once after you got back, it could be the thing that @TheGrillDad explained. Still, you could replace the battery on the fob just in case
